Response to Daily Prompt: Gratitude
Yesterday morning, as I took my usual long Saturday walk, I started reflecting on my life….. where I am, where I would like to be what I would like to achieve etc.
I thought about how great things are happening in the lives of people around me, how friends are testifying in different areas of their lives and I had an overwhelming feeling of self pity. I felt like year after year, I am struggling about the same things, like I am just going round and round in circles and ending up in the same spot.
As I was celebrating my son’s 24th birthday today, I was reminded that I had something wonderful to be thankful for, my son! Then I saw today’s WordPress Daily Prompt word, GRATITUDE, then I said to myself, I know Lord, you are reminding me to be grateful. I am so thankful for blessing me with the most precious gift I’ve ever received, the gift of my son, who has showed me how unconditional love looks like.
I may not be where I want and I am going through some tough times but I have a lot to be thankful for.
Here are but a few of some of the things I am grateful for:
- I am grateful that I woke up today when others didn’t make it through the night.
- I am grateful for a roof over my head, I am not sleeping on a bench in the cold in a park somewhere
- I am grateful that I have a job I can go to everyday when other people are searching for one
- I am grateful for an extended family and great friends
- I am grateful for the breath of life
- I am grateful for the free gift of salvation
- I am grateful for the faithfulness of My God who sustained me and seen me through the toughest times of my life
- I am grateful for my health and renewed strength everyday
- I am thankful for what God has done, what He is doing and yet to do in my life and I will testify of the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
I may not understand what’s going on in my life but I will Trust the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. Proverbs 3:5.
Focus on what you have, not what you don’t have, there’s always something to be thankful for.
Very true… we often forget that there is so much more to be grateful for if we just stopped focusing on the negative. Thanks for another great post 🙂

I love the idea of showing gratitude and being thankful even when we are down and things are unclear. This post reminded me of the “little” things that I forget to be grateful for everyday, like a roof over my head and my education!

My Love, You and I have something in common that most do not – I am the youngest of 8. What a delightful connection! I love the practice of giving thanks – “in all things rejoice!!” Gratitude is a super power that activates all that is good, attracting positivity and an open heart. It creates connection, love and deep appreciation. It helps us live not by circumstance, but activates our faith to know that there is always a deeper lesson for us to come home to ourselves. Blessings and Light to you on your path ❤

Well said! It’s such an awful trap to get stuck in when we focus on what we don’t have rather than appreciate everything we DO have. Great post and thank you for reminding up how important it is to be grateful for all that we have.

Those are all wonderful things to be thankful for, especially the gift of life, health, and everything else that God provides. It is so easy to compare our lives to others. It is when we focus on the things that God has blessed us with, do we continue to focus on being grateful, thus being thankful, then God will continue to increase our prosperity.

What a lovely post. A nice reminder that it only takes a moment to examine our life and find the good. It is so easy to get caught up in all the things that are going wrong in our life, especially when things never seem to change. It’s such a beautiful thing when we stop and start giving thanks for all we’ve been blessed with. Sometimes we just need to change our perspective just a little bit to see the good in our life – To echo your list: I’m thankful that I have a job when so many others don’t (even if my job is less than desirable). Thank-you so much for sharing.

This post is a perfect reminder for a lot of people that we must look on the positive side. A lot of us are fortunate enough to have a house over our heads and a family we love, but lots don’t even have this. We must be grateful for everything that is thrown our way. Love this post.

Its a wonderful posts. Even if something about me disappoints me, I still look for the bright side. I always thankful that somehow it not turns the worst. We are not luckily given all by what we want in life we are not just noticing that there are things or person or situation that we have and others don’t.
