A friend shared this on her Facebook Timeline….it brought back great childhood memories, I couldn’t resist sharing it.
Wouldnโt have changed it for the world โค๏ธ
I grew up in Zambia. ๐ I am proud of my humble beginnings .. a time when everyone treated each other like Family, every female that came to your house was your aunty even if they were no relation ๐ซ We went outside to play on streets, build dens and climbed trees and made tree swings ๐ณ, we didn’t eat fast food๐๐….we home made food and chips cooked in a lard chip pan, mashola (made out of corn meal ๐) ๐ we got ice cream from the ice-cream boy and we had our milk delivered by the milk man. We played rounders and marbles, Hide and Seek๐, Kiss ๐, cuddle and torture and knock door run ๐๐ There was no bottled water๐ถ, we drank water from the tap ๐ฐ if we had a drink we would share the same bottle of cooldrink …after giving it a wipe with our mucky sleeves, We watched tv through the neighbors window ๐บ ๐ There was no such thing as a mobile phone or any other electronic device ๐ต. We weren’t AFRAID OF ANYTHING. If someone had a fight, that’s what it was…a fist fight๐. Kids didn’t have guns๐ซ or knives๐ช.The street lights ๐กwere your curfew or until your mum shouted out the window. School was mandatory, but you’d still wag a couple of lessons every now and then โ๏ธ๐. We watched our mouths around our elders๐ด๐ผ๐ต๐ผ because we knew we’d get a slap, belt or some shoe , slipper ๐๐ …
I am proud that Iย come from a close knit community ๐ญ๐ฌ๐ซand I will never forget where I came from! Proudly Zambian!๐๐๐
I agree with you on humble beginnings …I prefer it for my daughter too

It sounds like you had a fun childhood. So many kids donโt go outside as often anymore.
